Northfield Plumbing started in 2009 with one van, one engineer and a simple promise: turn up when we say we will, and charge what we quoted. Sixteen years later, most of our work still comes from neighbours recommending us to neighbours.
Our story
James Northfield spent eleven years working for large regional contractors before going out on his own. He had grown tired of watching good work rushed, jobs subcontracted out to whoever was cheapest, and quotes that quietly grew by a third once the floor came up.
The first Northfield van covered Starbeck and Pannal. Word travelled. Today six engineers work across Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and the villages in between, completing everything from midnight burst-pipe call-outs to twelve-day bathroom refits.
We have deliberately stayed small enough that the person quoting your job is usually the person doing it — and that you will get the same engineer back if anything ever needs a second look.

Honest advice
If a repair will do, we repair it. We have talked plenty of customers out of a new boiler they did not need.

Dust sheets down, shoes off, tools away. Every job is left cleaner than we found it.

Pipework is clipped, lagged and labelled properly, even where nobody will ever see it.

Qualified, accredited, accountable
Every engineer is Gas Safe registered where applicable, WRAS-aware on water regulations, and continually retrained on new boiler and unvented cylinder systems. We carry £5m public liability cover and guarantee our workmanship for twelve months.
